What to Do With Your UFOs? Do Nothing…

Dearest Gentle Quilter,
The Italians have turned doing nothing into an art form. They call it relaxing. We Americans are much too busy, too goal oriented, to do nothing, or to waste an afternoon drinking wine and discussing current events.
If you choose to embrace your inner Italian and do nothing, you are no worse off than you are now; everything is status quo. But you are no better off either; everything is status quo.
A lot of us resist change. That’s normal. I tend to do that. But part of me strives for improvement. How can I make it better? What would improve the situation? All our other actions in our FREDD acronym strive to improve our situation by taking action in some way or another.
You can do nothing. Life is hard. If some other factor in your life is overwhelming you, maybe the thought of working on even one UFO is too much for you at this time. Do nothing.
Maybe changing one UFO is the one thing you can change, or take hold of at this time, since we seem to have control over nothing.
But what if the thought of doing nothing about your UFO situation is what is causing the overwhelm in your life – then do something! Finish – Redesign – Eliminate – Donate rather than do nothing. What will you decide? The choice is yours…

Very thought provoking. I was unaware that my behavior was “Italian” in nature but I do want to change that behavior. I have to work through my cold right now. I have a quilt that needs to be finished this weekend.
